The "Subberb of James Cittie" (Argall Town)
Alain C.
Outlaw is Instructor of History at Christopher Newport University in
Newport News, Faculty Member of the Jamestown Rediscovery Project for
Preservation Virginia, and Lecturer of Historic Preservation at Mary
Washington College in Fredericksburg. In his work as Principal
Archaeologist for Archeological & Cultural Solutions, Inc, he has
focused on excavations of prehistoric and historic sites in the
Tidewater region, Richmond, and Northern Virginia. His talk at the May
meeting will present information on the "Subberb of James Cittie," which
is the early seventeenth century name of the area he has been
investigating recently. He will include information about the "Argall
Town" period as well as earlier historic finds in the vicinity. In an
effort to be well-informed on the Jamestowne era and location, this is
an event all members will want to attend.
