3 p.m. Departed Jamestowne Island to return to Williamsburg Lodge.
Curatorial Tour of the Collections Vault - Over two million artifacts – lost, broken, or discarded by the early colonists are housed in the state-of-the-art collection room known as the Vault. These objects were found in buildings, wells, cellars, ditches, and trash pits since the current excavation began in 1994. Artifacts are cataloged and analyzed in the Vault with representative objects on display that show interactions with the Virginia Indians. An extensive and vivid ceramics display represents the global trading network of the time.
Tour of the James Fort Archaeology Site - The Fort archaeology will be explored and includes recent discoveries, the outdoor church, chancel burials, fort extension, and the new boundaries of James Fort. The Jamestown Rediscovery team’s current dig site is explained as well as the latest scientific techniques being used to uncover exciting new clues that were not always found in the documents.
Tour of the Archaearium Museum - A guided tour of the exhibitions of the Archaearium Museum will be conducted. Exhibits display the “highlights” of the Jamestown Rediscovery collection such as the Robert Cotton pipes exhibit, the World of Pocahontas, and the new reliquary exhibit. The Museum also displays armor and weapons, medical instruments, ceramics, and unique items found in Jamestown’s wells.
Living History with Capt. Edward Brewster - Brewster came to Virginia with the Second Supply and Lord De La Warr appointed him captain. In the Fall of 1610, a group led an expedition to the mountains but they stayed below the Falls of the James. He was appointed to repair the church and assist building Henricus. Capt. Brewster argued with leaders and much intrigue ensued. Captain Brewster will prove to be spellbinding!
